Insanely rare and insanely fabulous Yves Sant Lautent Moroccan inspired caftan is a perfect example of the look he made infamous amongst the fashion elite. He had a profound love for Morocco and took the classic caftan that the men there wore and turned into int chic maxi dresses that the jet set devoured! This is an amazing an early example - later pieces because more elaborate but this one has the simplicity and ease of the original inspiration. It is perfect to be worn as a chic day-to-night maxi dress. I love everything about the lines of this piece. The shoulders are slim with a plunging, sexy neckline that can be left open or closed right to the collar. Each sleeve widens as it nears its end and the bottom hem of the caftan also widens as it nears the floor. When you are standing still it settles perfectly about you but when you move you really get the sense of the amount of fabric that is there. It is made of a polished cotton, custom screened in hues of olive and coral. The seams are all finished and almost imperceptible but are placed so that the cut is just perfect. A really fabulous and wearable caftan that is also highly collectible and in the YSL world, a real rarity! Excellent condition!
